SpringWell SS1 Salt-Based Softener

Salt-based ion-exchange softener, sized from 1 to 7+ bathrooms
Our take

A straightforward salt-based softener for homes whose main problem is hardness. Genuine ion-exchange softening, smart metered regeneration that saves salt, a lifetime warranty, and a DIY-friendly install for most. It softens only — iron or sulfur need a filter stage ahead of it.

Buy it if
+ Your test shows real hardness — spotting, scale, dry skin
+ You want genuinely soft water, not just scale control
+ You'd rather refill salt than replace cartridges
Skip it if
Your test also flags iron or sulfur — treat those with a filter ahead of the softener
You're on a septic system sensitive to sodium (look at the salt-free conditioner)
You only care about drinking-water taste (get RO)
